TOM Cullen’s unbeaten century inspired leaders Potterne to an emphatic 135-run success over visiting Thornbury as they made it three wins from three.

Opener Cullen batted through the innings to score 153 as the home side set Thornbury a target of 297-8.

Cullen was not fazed by the loss of partners at regular intervals, with only skipper Neil Clark (24) and Andrew Woodward (27) offering any real support.

Sam Summerfield (2-25) and Harry Wormwell (2-32) were the pick of the attack.

Potterne skipper Neil Clark said: “Tom played a fantastic knock. He always looks to bat through, that’s just the way he plays.

“That allowed the rest of the team to bat around him and play a few shots.

“A few of us are quite attacking and ended up getting caught on the boundary but we know that if we score that every week, we will win more games than we lose.”

Potterne got off to a dream start with the ball as Thornbury fell to 15-2 and then 38-4.

A ninth-wicket partnership between Danny Slade and Luke Davis took Thornbury from 123-8 to 160 but they then both fell in quick succession as the visitors were all out for 162.

The wickets were shared for the home side as Dylan Higgins, Jake Roberts, Sahan Wijerathne and Stan Alsop claimed two apiece, while there were also two run-outs.

Meanwhile, Ed Kilbee’s 107 was in vain for Goatacre as they were beaten by four wickets away at Cheltenham.

Jack Haines also hit 50, while Tendai Maruma added 49 as the Goats totalled 254-7 but that was not enough.

Giorgio Rigali removed opener Peter Woodland early on as the hosts were reeling at 5-1 but Michael Kelly (65) and Kieran Smith (64) got them back on track.

Although Maruma (2-41) and Matthew House (2-38) kept Cheltenham honest, Aled Howell (42no) got his team over the line on 257-6.
