CHIPPENHAM Park, the feeder team to Chippenham Town, will play in the Toolstation Western League next season.

Park, who were formed at the end of the 2011-12 season to provide a pathway for players to progress on to Southern League football with Chippenham Town, have had their applcation for elevation from the Wiltshire League Premier Division approved, after fulfilling the criteria by finishing in the top five.

They are one of three new teams in the First Division of the league, with Ashton & Backwell United gaining promotion from the Somerset County League and Wincanton joining from the Dorset Premier League.

The league will have 43 clubs in the two divisions next season, a net increase of two member clubs from Season 2012-13.

Shrewton United and Elmore have moved to the Wiltshire League and SW Peninsula League respectively, while Slimbridge move across from the Hellenic League to the Toolstation Premier.

Melksham Town remain the only Wiltshire side in the top-flight, dashing the hopes of Bradford Town and Corsham Town that they might be promoted after finishing third and fourth in the First Division this season.

Park, managed by Dave Ferris, replaced the dissolved FC Chippenham Youth adult sides and were a key component in the restructuring of adult football in Chippenham.

Now-departed Adie Mings moved upstairs from managing the Bluebirds to a director of football role and Nathan Rudge taking over as Town's first team player-boss.

The proposed constitution is due to be ratified at a board meeting of the league, after the recent AGM granted permission for the directors to finalise the line-up.
