WILTSHIRE Ladies won the South West Counties League last season, winning five matches out of six.

They recorded victories over Cornwall, Worcestershire, Herefordshire, Somerset and Dorset but lost on their visit to Devon.

Wiltshire ladies begin the defence of their title next Tuesday, May 17 (1.30pm) when they travel to Exeter to face Cornwall on the neutral green at Topsham.

County selectors after two trial games have announced a team laced with experience and Johns Trophy inter-county championship players.

It is drawn from all corners of the county.

CHIPPENHAM TOWN Bowls Club are holding an Open Day this coming Saturday, May 14 (10am-5pm).

Newcomers to the sport or those who have played before and wishing to return to the game are cordially invited to attend.

The Open Day will be followed up by four Sunday morning two hour “taster sessions” where individual coaching will be available.

New bowlers joining will only be charged £45 for the year and this will include membership to Chippenham Sports Club with all its facilities.

There is plenty of free parking adjacent to the Bowls Club and tea and coffee will be available all day on the open day..
