WALKON has been introduced into the Paddy Power Gold Cup betting at 14-1 by the sponsors after Barbury Castle trainer Alan King confirmed the grey would have an entry for the first major handicap of the new National Hunt season.

Last seen in the Scottish National, in which he was pulled up, the second-season novice would be dropping markedly in trip for the Cheltenham feature on November 17.

"Walkon will have an entry in the Paddy Power Gold Cup, but he would be my only possible for the race," said King.

"He has done well over the summer and he is back in faster work and schooled for the first time on Monday.

"He wouldn't have a prep race before the Paddy Power if he were to run."
