DEVIZES booked their place in the semi finals of the Dorset & Wilts 1st XV Cup with a five-try victory at Ballards Ash.

The Saddlebacks handed starts to openside flanker Olly Gibb and inside centre Nick Balls, while Mark Warburton made his debut at outside centre and Toby Randall returned at tighthead prop.

But the visitors were off colour in the opening quarter, both Craig Bryant and Damon Murphy spending 10 minutes in the sin-bin before scoring the first try as Andy Thompson’s cross-kick sent Jorge Wadman in.

Thompson converted but the visitors were improved in the second half after a rocket from coach John Kimberley.

Balls crossed for a try converted by Thompson and, with their set-piece dominating, James Gaiger touched down after darts by Gibb and Tom Collins, Thompson adding the extras.

Lewis Paget then crossed for a score, converted by Thompson and substitute Steve McCraith completed the scoring with a score from deep, as Devizes progressed to a semi final at Wimborne next month.
