FROM what I heard about the Hemel Hempstead game on Saturday, even when we went down to ten men, we kept on creating chances and it was similar on Tuesday night against Weymouth.

I thought that both sides contributed with some good attacking football to make an exciting game and on another night, we would have done enough to win quite comfortably and put the other side to the sword.

I think that Nathan and Rich should be encouraged by some of what they’ve seen – there have been a few individual errors but there was some fantastic attacking intent, especially in the first and last 25 minutes against Weymouth.

I think that Nathan has made the right decision in choosing to step away from playing because it’s a really difficult ask.

When I took over as caretaker manager, I was still playing for five or six games and I don’t think people realise just how much you have to do even before the game starts.

You’ve got to organise your team, liaise with the chairman and other people at the club, talk to players and then prepare yourself to be able to benefit the side in a proper capacity.

It’s such a difficult thing to do but I hope that Nathan doesn’t call time on his playing career – hopefully he can still keep himself ticking over in the Wiltshire Shield and Red Insure Cup games while leaving himself just the job of managing in the bread and butter of league games.

Chippenham Park had a fantastic 6-1 win last weekend and Park Reserves also won 5-0.

Ben Wickens will get a lot of attention because he scored a hat-trick for Park but there were also some other very good performances.

Nathan is already asking me which players have impressed and could look to be called up to the first team because it only takes a few injuries or suspensions for them to be needed.
