CHIPPENHAM runner Dave Bishop recorded the best time over 1500m by a Scot for almost 20 years as he dipped under the Olympic B standard at a meeting in America.
Bishop, 24, who went to university in New Mexico, clocked an impressive time at the Payton Jordan Cardinal Invitational meeting at Stanford University.
Bishop's run of 3:37.51 was the fifth fastest of all time by a Scot at 1500m and the best since David Strang back in 1994, while colleague Chris O'Hare finished in 3:37.95.
It could put Bishop, of Willowbank, Chippenham, in line for Great Britain's team for the European Championships in Helsinki, which falls less than a month before the Olympics.
