THE only match in Division One of the Trowbridge Windows & Conservatories-sponsored Trowbridge League saw bottom of the table Steeple Ashton travel to relegation threatened Bradford United.

With Ashton already relegated, they were hoping to sign off with a victory in their final game of a campaign that started well back in September with two victories from their opening three games.

But after their promising start things went down hill and just one more win in 14 games finally saw they stay in the top flight come to an end last weekend.

Bradford’s players went into the game knowing that a victory would almost certainly guarantee them a place in the division next term and they duly obliged with a 5-0 win.

Bradford got off to a flying start and were one up inside a minute with Nick Gerrish finding the net after a swift team move from the hosts.

Jonny Eamer doubled Bradford’s lead when he volleyed home at the near post following a Lee Gilder corner and they grabbed a third five minutes before the break, again Ashton failed to defend a corner and Fynn McCarthy-Driver scrambled home for 3-0.

Eamer scored his second of the afternoon and Bradford’s fourth when he fired home following another excellent team build up.

The scoring was completed by Max Bougeard who scored a brilliant individual effort to seal an emphatic 5-0 win for the home team whose three points take them six points clear of the drop zone.
