WE know that we need to do better this weekend at Redditch than we did last weekend against Cirencester.

We were prepared properly and we’d been to watch them on the Tuesday so we’d told the lads about their strengths and weaknesses but we didn’t show enough quality to break them down on the day.

They had two or three men on James Guthrie when he got it and Ross Stearn only had a little bit of joy down his side.

The strikers worked hard but they also had a lot of men on Alan Griffin and the front men never really got as far as they normally would.

Ciren were always going to scrap, battle and sit deep and it worked for them.

If that was the way they played every week, then they wouldn’t be bottom of the league so there’s obviously a flaw in their make-up but we didn’t overcome it.

A bit of confidence seeped out of the lads but we just need to try and put in an improved performance next time and try to turn the corner.

We had Redditch watched last night (at Swindon Supermarine) and try to prepare for them, like we do for every team.

It’s a tough place to go and it’s a lot like Banbury, with an old ground and a sloping pitch. The surface won’t be great so we’ll have to deal with that.

Tommy Smith’s had his contract cancelled by Salisbury so he’s a free agent and he wanted to come back and help us out.

I thought he did well and made some good saves against Ciren.

He’s fit and one player who’s got experience if going up from this league.

We don’t know how long Kev Sawyer’s going to be out. He tried to train last Thursday and broke down again so we’re not going to rush the situation.

We’ll see if we can get him fit and right and see what happens from there for the number one jersey.
