CUP competitions are always a great part of your season and we’re so disappointed that our FA Trophy run has ended.

It’s the non-league’s version of the FA Cup but it’s over for us and we’ve got the league to concentrate on now.

We took the decision to use the Wiltshire Premier Shield to utilise some of the U18 lads and we’re hoping to start having a few of those training with the first team and see if we can bring any through for next year.

We need to see a response from the players this weekend but we face a tough task at Evesham.

Westy (Paul West) left as manager a few weeks ago and they’ve got my friend Matt Clarke in, who has already signed a few players.

He was in charge at Halesowen last year when they finished just below us with a 10-point deduction, so they’ll be a bit of an unknown quantity.

But we have to be quick out of the blocks and believe we can go there and pick up three points.

We knew that we’d have some important fixtures in December and Weymouth was one of those, which we didn’t do well enough in.

We will change a few things and Mani (Randhawa) will come back into the squad.

He’s been a diamond since he’s come in here but he was the unlucky one to miss out completely on Saturday.

Dave Gilroy has also been back in training this week so hopefully he does alright tonight and could be ready to come back into the squad at Evesham.

It was good to see Salisbury get through to the third round of the FA Cup for the first time in their history and all of us at Chippenham would like to congratulate them.

I speak to Darrell (Clarke, manager) every now and again and he’s done a fantastic job there because they’ve had a difficult few years.

We wish we were in their place and it’s great for the non-league.
