BEFORE the game at Frome, I said to the lads that our season had to start now.

We haven’t done that much wrong yet but we’ve been undone by a lapse of concentration at Weymouth, and another against Brackley and poor refereeing decisions against Stourbridge.

It’s no good making excuses and there comes a time when each of us has got to stand up and be counted, so hopefully it started in the right way.

I thought we did very well against Frome – it’s a local derby and it was a difficult place to go to but I thought we coped admirably.

A lot of our lads have played at this level for a long time now and they know that you’re going to have to cope with some physical sides – after we got the early goal, which settled us down, I thought we did the right things.

Saturday’s game against Brackley was disappointing because we didn’t get going in the second half. When I asked questions like could we play with a tempo and could we stretch them, we didn’t really do what I asked.

They punished us but 48 hours later, the boys bounced back and produced a fantastic result.

It would have been easy after Saturday to still be sulking and be feeling sorry for ourselves but we showed fantastic application to go and get a good result at a side who have aspirations of trying to challenge this year.

Going to Cambridge (City) is always difficult so we’re going to have to make sure that we’re at it.

I’ve said to the lads that it would be no good going to Frome and winning and then putting in a disappointing performance up at Cambridge – it’s very important that we go there and build on what we’ve got.

Scotty Lye should hopefully be ready by the weekend but we don’t want to rush him back and Iain Harvey should be fit by Saturday – we’ll have the competition for places that we need.
