GREAT Bedwyn’s George Stone is hoping that his side can continue to progress under the stewardship of new captain Dan Swatton this season.

Wicketkeeper Stone, who has stepped down after skippering the first XI for 15 seasons, led his side to a fourth-placed finish in the Wiltshire Division last year.

“I think that we’ve found our level now in this league and it’s where we’d like to stay,” said Stone.

“I think that fourth place shows progress and this year, we’d just like to see if we can do the same again.

“I think you need seven wins to make sure that you stay in the division and anything after that means that you’ve been successful.”

Great Bedwyn have added Marlborough all-rounder Richard West to their ranks.

Swatton’s side start the new season with a trip to Malmesbury on Saturday.
