This season has been all about fine margins.

We had 14 draws and if you're a bit more clinical in seven of those, it puts you in first or second place and even if with three more wins, you’re probably in the play-offs.

We’re all a bit disappointed but, like I’ve said before, if you don’t have the finances to go and bring in a better quality of player, it’s always going to be very difficult.

We have to accept that and now with the budget being cut again, we’re not going to have the same consistency because we’re asking lads to step up from a lower level and be consistent at this level.

I think we all know that the players are overachieving massively – anyone looking in from the outside can’t see that but anybody within our four walls can see what my boys give me week in, week out is above and beyond.

It’s a monumental effort for what they’re being paid, for the commitment that they put in and with the time, effort and travelling too.

They’ve all been fantastic and when you speak to other managers, they all think that what we do here for the money that we pay out is brilliant.

I’m not in the job to get my name in lights, I’m in the job to try and do my best for the football club.

There’s been managers in the past who have had twice as much to spend as I have and not achieved what we’ve achieved.

It is tough and it is difficult and I may not go down as the greatest manager in Chippenham Town’s history but at least I can say that I’m someone who tried to stabilise the club and keep us within our means.

It’s been a difficult year – I lost my mum at the start of the season and some of the lads have had their own issues but we’ve all stuck together.
