I THOUGHT that the cup final was a good game.

They tried to play and we also got it down and played, there were chances at both ends but I thought that we maybe should have gone in two or three goals up after the first half.

I spoke to Paul Bodin before the game because I know him quite well and he said that they’d come with a young side, which is obviously a learning curve for those players.

It’s a good chance to bring those lads on and they’ve done well in the league they’re in – I think they’ve managed to win it and they’ve got to see now how well they can develop in men’s football.

We knew it was going to be a test and as much it was a learning curve for them, it was a competitive game for us and the Swindon lads got to see what it’s going to be like when they get a bit older.

The lads have been in the semi-final of one competition already this season and they’ve managed to get themselves some silverware now, which is fantastic for them at the end of a long, hard season.

I’m pleased for them and we just want to try and get ourselves two more wins to end our season – if we do that, we’ll finish on the same amount of points that got us in the play-offs last year, obviously with two less games due to Windsor.

It just shows how strong the league is this year and if we’d turned a couple of draws into wins, how well we could have done this season.

We were also excellent on Saturday and the way we applied ourselves was great.

This weekend, Cambridge will be coming to try and win to cement their play-off place and then there’s the local derby at Supermarine on Monday, so they’re the kind of games you want to finish your season with.
