PROMOTER Keith Mayo says his professional shows could become a regular fixture in Chippenham, ahead of next month’s Rumble by the Avon.

The April 30 show is the second Mayo fight night to take place at the Olympiad Leisure Centre, with the Swindon-based promoter hosting the town’s first professional show for over 20 years last October.

Trowbridge’s English middleweight champion Nick Blackwell will top the bill.

“The first show in Chippenham was very successful – the people came out and supported it and that’s why we’ve come back again,” said Mayo.

“This one has got a good line-up and it’s got the makings of a really good show.

“We’ve got another date pencilled in at the Olympiad in October and if we get people come to this show and we give them value for money, then I’m sure we’ll be back.”

Melksham’s British Masters super-featherweight champion Liam Richards will take on Plymouth rookie Ben Morrish in a featherweight clash while Calne-born super-middleweight Andrew McCaffrey is set for his third pro bout.

Swindon fighters Kelvin Young (middleweight) and Noureddine Meddoune (heavyweight) and stablemate Danny Bharj, making his pro debut at lightweight, are also featured.

Bristol light-welterweight Dan Stewart and Devon super-featherweight Jamie Speight will also feature.

Malmesbury light-welterweight Joe Hughes is set for his third pro fight on April 9, at the Rainton Meadows Arena, in Houghton-le-Spring, near Sunderland.

The 20-year-old will fight on the undercard of Stuey Hall’s British bantamweight title defence against John Donnelly.
