MIKE Hartley reckons his side’s thrashing of high-flying Lydney Town on Saturday had been on the cards for some time.

Vics recorded just their fourth win of the season thanks to a brace from Simon Griffiths and goals from Ed Wilkins, Alan Hawthorne and Mark Field.

“To be honest, I feel like I’ve been vindicated because I’ve said that we’re been improving and this kind of result was coming,” said Hartley.

“It was exactly the same side that started against Cheltenham Saracens (a 3-1 defeat on March 19) and that was also a game we should have won.

“It was really good to see and now we need to try to go on a bit of a run.

“It’s no good winning a game and then losing two or three after that.”

Vics host local rivals Trowbridge Town this weekend but will be without suspended midfielder Kristian Hext.
