ADIE Mings admitted a “moment of magic’’ had decided the crunch promotion battle with Chesham but insists his Bluebirds side won’t be found wanting for effort in the Premier Division run-in.

Lewis Powell curled home a sensational 30-yard free kick seven minutes after half time to decide a closely-fought contest in the home side’s favour.

Mings admitted: “They (Chesham) are a very good side. I make no bones about it.

“They are not third in the table for no reason.

“They are different to a Leamington or Hednesford who try to keep it tight. They come and play football.

“It was a good match on a difficult pitch and we managed to shade it with a moment of magic from Lewis Powell.’’ He added: “For the first 25 minutes we were a bit ad hoc, not communicating with each other and not passing on messages.

“We can be a bit quiet as a side, but we’ve managed to shade it and keep our season alive.

“I'd like to see the form table over the last eight games and would like to think we have been there or thereabouts.

“You cannot fault them for effort. If they give me that between now and the end of the season, hopefully they can sneak into that top five.
