THERE were some fantastic games on League Cup semi final weekend, none more so than between Larkhall U14 and Trowbridge Wanderers.

Both teams missed golden opportunities to take the lead but with five minutes to go before the break Ruby Goodman put Wanderers ahead.

Goodman stabbed home in the second period but Trowbridge could not put the game out of reach and Elle Lyne pulled one back with four minutes to go.

The Bath side then levelled with a minute left and there was drama in extra time as Maddie Taylor’s strike looked to have won it for Wanderers before Larkhall equalised in the dying seconds.

Athletic completed the job in the penalty shootout to book a final against Swindon Spitfires.

The U12 semi finals saw Swindon Town defeat Trowbridge Wanderers 3-1 to keep their hopes alive of a second league and cup double alive.

They remain unbeaten in league and cup for nearly three seasons.

Melksham United saw three teams make it through to finals day, despite their U12 outfit falling behind to Bath City.

Second-half goals from Poppy Spratt, Holly Jones and Emily Dee proved enough, despite Bath setting up a tense last couple of minutes with a late penalty.

The second Melksham team through was the U16 as they beat Derry Hill, also 3-2.

Shannon Davis scored in the opening minute but Derry were level by half time.

Goals from Laura Ward and Lauren Nelson put Melksham 3-1 up but Derry Hill got one back late on, Hannah Shepherd and Emma Gorman their scorers.

A solitary goal in extra time from Hannah Orchard that gave Larkhall U16 their place in the final, as they overcame Lavington.

Melkshams’s U13 defeated Marshfield 7-1 and will play Highworth Juniors who came though a close game with Derry Hill, winning by the odd goal in five.
