SKIMMER bream made up the bulk of the weights in the Wilts Angling Open match fished on Wednesday at Barton Court as Bradford’s Ian Stainer from Bradford won with 34lb 8oz.
Trowbridge’s Dave Bancroft was next with 24lb, while Darren Fordham of Devizes took third with roach and skimmers weighing 20lb 8oz.
Other placings: 4. Mick Martin Trowbridge 20 lb 4 oz; 5. John Atkins Trowbridge 14 lb 4 oz; 6. Pete Neate Holt 14 lb 0 oz.
BRADFORD'S Vic Abbott clinched the Airsprung match fished on Sunday on the Kennet & Avon Canal at the Beehive with roach and skimmers weighing 8lb 13oz 8dm.
Other placings: 2. Richard Whitmarsh Frome 8lb 4oz; 3. Mike Marsden Westbury 6lb 6oz 8dm; 4. Steve Southern Trowbridge 5 lb 2 oz; 5. Bill Turner Trowbridge 5 lb 1 oz 8 dm; 6. Wayne Henley Bradford 3 lb 11 oz.
THERE was a tie for top spot between Chippenham’s Alex Hyde and Stuart White at the Chippenham silver fish only match at Pockeridge on Sunday, both with weights of 12lb 12oz of roach and tench and roach respectively.

HOLT’S Pete Neate carred off the prize at Sunday’s Wilts Angling Open match at Rood Ashton with 60lb 4oz of carp.
