Adie Mings admitted that he was disappointed with his Chippenham Town side’s performance in Saturday’s smash and grab win at Banbury United.

The hosts dominated for large spells in the second-half but Alan Griffin netted his second of the afternoon late on to snatch all three points for the Bluebirds.

“I don’t think we played well and three or four let themselves down with their performances,” said Chippenham chief Mings.

“Without a few showings that were over and above, we could have come unstuck.

“I’ve let them know and there’s a few that have dropped their standards and played well below-par, compared to what they’re capable of.

“Although I’m disappointed with the performance, we’ll take the three points and if you look back over the course of the season, you don’t always play well.

“I did think that Alan Griffin was superb in leading the line again but sometimes you don’t always win pretty – it’s a valuable three points that we can hopefully build on now and take into Tuesday.”

On-loan winger Lee Smith made his debut in Saturday’s victory but the Bluebirds were without injured Shaun Benison.

Mings denied rumours linking the young striker with a move away from Hardenhuish Park but did reveal that a short loan spell could be on the cards for Benison, as he looks to get back to full match fitness.

Elsewhere, Ashley Edenborough has linked up with Cirencester Town after choosing to leave Chippenham due to work and family commitments.
