WE’VE got a little bit more competition for places now so we can start putting pressure on some of the lads to show the kind of form they did last season.

If we can get back into players that they can’t rest on their laurels, then that bodes well for the future.

Against Brackley, I thought there were some fantastic performances from some of the lads.

Shaun Lamb and Steve Casey were absolutely magnificent at the back and Scotty Lye and James Martin worked their socks off in midfield.

It was Luke Gullick’s first game after a long time out and he ran himself into the ground and posed a different threat to what we’ve had in previous weeks. W hen I signed Luke originally, I signed him as a centre forward because that was where he was doing really well.

We then moved him to playing wide left because of his ability there but he’s showed his desire and the quality that he adds to the side and I’m pleased to have him back.

He probably stayed on a bit longer than he should have but that just shows his commitment to the cause.

I’m pleased for all the lads because they got the three points that they deserved.

We just want to try and win our home games and pick up points on the road – we obviously came unstuck against Hednesford the other week but we’ve drawn a line under that.

We showed fantastic work ethic and desire to grind out three points against Brackley, who’ll be there or thereabouts at the end of the season.

Last night we tried to shuffle the pack and get some of the lads who haven’t been playing regularly some game time, but we were still aiming for a good result.

We’re just looking forward to the weekend’s trip to Banbury now.
