MELKSHAM United U13s became the second team to clinch a championship crown this season.

They defeated Highworth 7-2 to confirm the title and have now won their respective league in the last three seasons – losing just one game in that time.

This was the first season they have played in their own age group, the goals on the day shared between Ruby Beedon, Emma Power, Emma Spratt and Ruby Pickering.

Coach Steve Kirk admitted his team were now aiming to lift the League Cup – a trophy that has so far eluded them.

He added: “Our third consecutive title is some special achievement and we’ve still a chance of not dropping any points for the season and a possible league and cup double.

The girls should all be very proud of their achievements – it’s always hard to defend a title, but to do it twice is outstanding.”

The other game in the division saw Derry Hill win at Marshfield 3-0.

Derry Hill U16 moved to the top of a close section with an 8-0 home victory over Lavington Juniors.

Hannah Shepherd and Lia King scored hat-tricks and Isobel Percy completed the scoring.

Any one of the top three sides could still win the title in an exciting run-in.

The U14 Division saw Trowbridge Wanderers win 15-0 against Lavington, Ruby Goodman scoring five for the second time in three weeks.

Maddie Taylor and Lauren Wright added four each, Jodie Walker and Georgia Groves also scoring.

Wanderers were briefly up to second behind champions Trowbridge Town until Swindon Spitfires beat Wootton Bassett 2-0.

The U12 division saw no action but the split for the second half of the season has been finalised and sees the Championship Division being contested by Swindon Town, Trowbridge Town, Trowbridge Wanderers, Melksham United and Derry Hill.

The remainder of the teams will play in the Plate Division.
