INTERNATIONAL event riders Paul Tapner and David Doel got in some practice before the BE season starts next month, at the West Wilts Equestrian Centre’s BS showjumping day at Holt.
Tapner, the reigning Badminton three-day event champion who is based at Highworth, won the Discovery class ahead of West Wilts-based Mandy Collins.
The Aussie rider partnered the seven year old bay Carlito, who was scoring his first BS (British Showjumping) affiliated win.
He had to settle for second and third in the Newcomers and Open combined class however, riding his advanced event horses Kilronan and Kilfinnie, runner-up at the Bramham CCI*** three-day event in 2010.
Lacock junior international Doel grabbed top spot on Vivre La Vie B, who he rode into second in the Tattersalls Junior CCI in Ireland last season.
Zoe Wilkinson, head girl at Tapner’s Eventing Team yard, won the 1.05m Open class on her eight year old We Found Nemo.
