SHAUN Carter’s late goal helped Wootton Bassett Town bounce back from their weekend trouncing at the hands of Shortwood United, as they beat Carterton on Tuesday night.

On Saturday, Dave Turner’s side were beaten 5-1, with James Turner grabbing the consolation goal, and the Bassett manager is taking the blame for that defeat.

“Sometimes you blame your players but it was my fault because I put the wrong formation out,” said Turner.

“I put a few young lads in (on Tuesday) like Joe Dorey, Ethan Delaney, Sam Packer and Craig Bowden and it was a great performance.”

Bassett host local rivals Shrivenham this weekend.
