NATHAN Rudge is hoping he and his Bluebirds teammates can start turning draws into wins as they look to climb the Zamaretto League Premier Division table.

The Chippenham centre-back was rested for Tuesday night’s Red Insure Cup quarter-final win over Taunton Town, but his wind-assisted clearing header set up Lewis Powell’s goal in Saturday’s blustery draw at Cirencester Town.

The Bluebirds currently hold the title of the league’s draw specialists after eleven stalemates so far this season and Rudge would love to see his side start claiming all three points on a more regular basis.

“We need to pick up wins to be honest because we’ve got aspirations of getting in the play-offs,” he said.

“(On Saturday) it wasn’t a great game but we were 1-0 up and I thought the first goal would win it – I thought that we were in control but a sloppy goal cost us.

“But we’ll bounce back again and go for it again next Saturday.”

Rudge has featured regularly in Adie Mings’ back four this season and is still enjoying life at Hardenhuish Park since his summer switch from Tiverton Town.

“It’s good as gold here and I’m really enjoying it – there’s a good bunch of lads and I’m getting a good run of games to keep myself ticking over,” said the Town defender.

“We’ve got competition all over the pitch and hopefully, later on in the season that’s going to take us through.

“We need all of us to try and get back to winning ways and try to go on a run.”

The weather dominated Saturday’s clash, with the Bluebirds using the elements to take the lead through Powell in the first half.

But an erratic second-half Ciren corner caused confusion in the Bluebirds’ box and Rob Hoskin finished.
