DEPLETED Devizes felt victims of some ref justice as Bristol University claimed a 2-1 victory in Davis Wood League Premier Division One.
With players unavailable or playing while ill, the home side was threadbare, but put up a commendable performance.
They opened the scoring when 6x man of the match Roger Edwards put Sam Gaiger through and he cut into the D and laid the ball off to Paul Tough who made no mistake from close range.
Bristol hit back quickly as the home side backed off an advancing player, who crashed the ball into the D.
After a goalmouth melee, the ball was struck home from close range.
Then, on the stroke of half time, Bristol were awarded a short corner, only to appeal to the umpire who upgraded his decision to a penalty flick which allowed the visitors to take the lead.
In the second half Devizes pressed and harried well, but lacked the composure to get on terms.
The visitors also spurned another penalty flick, awarded for a challenge by Keith Reesby.
