ADI Holcombe hailed Tuesday’s display against Division One leaders Downton as their best of the season, despite Pewsey slipping to a 2-0 defeat.
Two second-half goals from set pieces sealed the points for the hosts but the Pewsey manager was delighted with his side.
“We played brilliantly and every single player was on top of their game,” said Holcombe.
“If it had been a boxing match, they would have thrown in the towel because we closed them down all over the pitch and had so many chances .
“You need to take your chances against the big teams but it was the best we’ve played all season.”
On Saturday, Pewsey’s game with Whitchurch United was postponed after a mix-up at the Wessex League saw their ground double-booked with the reserve side.
Holcombe’s side take on Premier Division giants Bemerton Heath Harlequins in the quarter finals of the Wessex League Cup on Tuesday.
