ADIE Mings was left dumbfounded by his side’s first-half performance against Bedford Town on Tuesday but praised assistant Gary Kemp for the half-time dressing down given to the Bluebirds players.

After a below-par first-half which saw Chippenham go in a goal down, Mings’ side rallied to score three times in the second period.

“I thought that in the first half, we were woeful,” said the Bluebirds boss. “We were trying to play some sort of football that I’ve never seen before – I was at a loss and couldn’t really wait for half-time to come.

“We had to shake a few up and credit to Gary because he’s the one who’s given them a rollicking at half-time.”

The visitors were ahead in the 18th minute after Craig Daniel and Graham Clark combined on the right-hand side to leave striker Ian Draycott with an easy tap-in.

Chippenham levelled seven minutes into the second half as Ashley Edenborough fired past keeper Ian Brown at the second attempt.

Lewis Powell dinked Greg Tindle’s through-ball over Brown for the second and Edenborough turned in Ashley Williams’ low cross for the third.
