Cricket: Ross Crick took a wicket with his first ball in Minor Counties cricket as Wiltshire bounced back from their opening defeat of the season with a maximum points draw against Oxfordshire.

The three-day game held at Challow and Childrey cricket ground in Oxfordshire finished in a draw as both sides ran out of time to force a positive result.

At stumps on day three Wiltshire were 218 for five, 69 runs short of victory.

After winning the toss and choosing to bowl Oxfordshire were dismissed for just 262 thanks to a fine all round bowling performance.

Oxfordshire started brightly reaching 62 without loss, but Crick was struck with his first ball to remove opener Jaimie Hewitt.

The 20-year-old seamer went on to dismiss three of the Oxfordshire top four and finished with figures of three for 32.

Also among the wickets were James Hibberd with three for 53, Damian Shirazi with two for 22 and Robert Travers with two for 111.

Wiltshire responded impressively with a dominant batting display led by captain Richard Bedbrook.

He scored 103 to record his maiden minor counties century.

Bedbrook was ably supported by 17-year-old James Vince with 87, who reached 50 from just 27 balls, and James Hibberd who finished 78 not out in a total of 374 for seven.

Wiltshire's bowlers found the going much harder in the second innings however as Rob Williams led the Oxfordshire fight back with 169.

Wiltshire's Dudley Graham was the pick of the bowlers and finished with three for 94. Crick and Travers picked up another wicket each, Travers toiling away for 40 overs after Wiltshire's main spinner James Haywood broke his thumb on the first morning.

Oxfordshire declared on 398 for five leaving Wiltshire a target of 287 to win from 50 overs.

Shirazi got Wiltshire off to a solid start and they were 62 before fellow opener Thomas Morton was bowled by Jack Brooks for 15.

Shirazi went on to score 106 but despite a 61 ball 42 from Hibberd near the end, Wiltshire came up just short.
