Premier Division

Westbury Rangers A's sixth win of the season saw them opening up a four-point gap over their rivals at the top.

Miller Sports had held Rangers to a 1-1 draw in the first half of the match at Meadow Lane before Rangers broke clear of the shackles and scored six unanswered second half goals to run out 7-1 victors.

Ben Grinham netted for Miller but goals from Marc Lanfear who scored three, Mark Young who netted twice and singles from Paul Beavers and Matty Smith earned Rangers maximum points.

Maud Heath Sports threw away a two goal advantage against Box Rovers, who after falling behind to goals from Rikki Summers and Neurin Jones hit back to win 4-2 which should have been a lot more had it not been for a combination of poor finishing by Rovers strikers and some great goal keeping from Maud Heath's net minder Jodi Whiston.

Russell Gibbings stared the Rovers revival and Tom Smith drew them level at the interval and second half goals from Jamie Harrison and another from Smith won the game for Rovers to move them into second spot.

Old adversaries Holt and North Star renewed hostilities at The Fortress and although the match didn't produce the goal fest as predicated it did go the way of the home team who claimed a fourth win on the bounce.

Holt scampered around the pitch and were the first to strike when hit-man Rob O'Harrow headed home on the half hour.

North Star were only visible in patches as Holt unleashed their own galaxy of stars.

The North Star goalkeeper Michael Bell was outstanding between the posts reaching for the sky with three superb first half saves.

The second half started much the same as the first with Holt peppering the Star goal.

Goal number two arrived when some relentless hard work by Tom Pang paid off when he headed home.

This gave the visitors a reminder of why they had travelled ten light years from the Calne constellation and they pressed forward with renewed vigour.

They were rewarded when star-man Daren Legg headed home to reduce the deficit with 15 minutes remaining.

This gave Holt a timely reminder that the game was still there to be lost.

With ten minutes to go O'Harrow made sure of the points with another header to make it 3-1.

FC Colerne are still finding the going in the top flight a lot harder than they anticipated, Colerne gave a good account of themselves against Biddestone Social and felt that their match at home to John O'Meara's side was a lot closer than the 4-0 scoreline suggests it was.

Biddestone led 1-0 at the interval thanks to Gary Banks who put them in front on 13 minutes when he knock home a loose ball from ten yards.

Colerne had the chance to get back on level term mid way through the half when they were awarded a penalty but Sam Puckett saw his effort from 12 yards saved by Ryan Trowbridge.

Biddestone doubled their lead in the 47th minutes via Danny Jones who drove home from 12 yards.

Mike Few had a header brilliantly save, but Rob Pocock was on hand to head the rebound home to make it 3-0 and Gary Banks unselfishly set up Jamie Lyons for goal number four, ten minutes from time.

Winsley breathed a huge sigh of relief as they finally chalked up their first victory of the season at the sixth attempt as they defeated Semington Rovers 5-1, although Rovers though that they were better than the score indicates.

Lee Jackson were Winsley's lone marksman while Dean Ranger grabbed a three timer for the winners, and Neil Hannaford and Chris Birleson whose goal went in off his knee accounted for the others.

The eagerly awaited show down between fierce Bradford rivals Dog & Fox Ashley and a new look Bradford News, was postponed due to the Dog not being able to raise a team as they were missing players due to work and other commitments.

Division One

Current division one leaders Potterne FC put their 100 per cent record on the line away at Christian Malford who were also unbeaten in their previous four matches, and the match between the long standing rivals, was tipped to be a thriller as both were on top form going into the game.

But come the final whistle, Malford had been completely out played by a very good Potterne side who's speed of attack tore the Malford defence to pieces as Potterne won 8-1.

Potterne got off to a dream start after 15 seconds when a Myles Hickton pass through Christian Malford's defence found Steven House who volleyed beyond Malford's Ben Munns and into the net to put the village boys in front.

Potterne doubled their lead on seven minutes when Myles Hickton rounded the keeper and laid the ball on for Steven House who side footed home into an empty goal.

Malford gave themselves some hope on eight minutes when Aaron Merryweather went past five players before crossing to James Pope who tapped home the only goal for Malford.

Malford's resistance was short lived as the speedy Potterne forwards continued to destroy the Malford defence.

Before half time they had taken a 4-1 lead with Steven House completing his hat-trick after 22 minutes when Malford failed to clear their lines and three minutes later Myles Hickton scored his first of the day after another fast paced attack left him to volley home from inside the area.

For the second game running Malford had to change there goal keeper at half-time when Ben Munn's injured shoulder meant he had to change position with left back Ben Head, but the second half started much like the first half finished with Potterne forcing Malford onto the back foot, as once again Hickton provided a quality cross which Wayne House who had troubled the defence the whole game lashed under the keeper on 49 minutes.

Hickton got his second and Potterne's sixth with a cracking left footed strike into the bottom corner on 50 minutes.

Hickton completed his hat-trick when substitute keeper Ben Head slipped after collecting the ball and dropping it at Hickton's feet for probably his easiest goal of the season.

Potterne's eighth and final goal came after Dean House rounded his marker on the touch line and crossed the ball into the back post were Ben Giles volleyed into the roof of the net after 67mins.

Malford's defence managed to keep the score at 8 -1 and although Malford had a couple of chances late in the game they were well beaten on the day by a far better team who might have written themselves into the league record books by playing four brothers in the same team, Steven,Wayne, Ben and Dean House all took part in Potterne's fine win.

Referee Steve Hogan had an excellent game.

The Ship FC held onto their 100% record but were made to fight all the way by Atworth United in an end to end game in which both defences struggled to keep the opposition at bay and the Ship were the happier of the sides to hear the referee blow up for full time as they had claimed a 5-4 success against a battling Atworth side.

Atworth took after 12 seconds and straight from the kick off when Steve Lye's left foot drive found the net.

This spurred The Ship into life and their front two of David Percival and Lee Hayward caused problems for the Atworth back four who were missing Andy Robbins after he pulled out with an injury.

A couple of moments of indecision led to The Ship going 2-1 ahead mid way through the first half with Lee Hayward and Toby Dawson scoring.

Sean Fordham latched onto a long clearance from Joe Menghini to lob the Ship's keeper and level the scores at 2-2 going into the break.

Playing down the Atworth slope The Ship quickly got into their stride and went 4-2 up thanks to another Toby Dawson goal who turned home a Ashley Bennison cross, and a second from player/manager Hayward who shot was helped home by the unfortunate Gary Bye.

Trailing 4-2 Atworth never gave up and to their credit they hit back and Ross Menghini reduced the arrears with cracking header from a Sean Fordham corner.

Toby Dawson completed his hat trick with an audacious lob and this should have seal the win but back came Atworth once more with Ross Menghini powering home another bullet header from an Ian Jeffery free kick to bring Atworth back to 4-5 with 10 minutes still left to play.

Lewis Porter in the Ship goal needed to be at his best to keep out another effort from Menghini and Gary Bye had the opportunity to make up for his earlier error but he fluffed his shot when he found himself free in the penalty area with seconds remaining and only the keeper to beat.

Old sparring partners British Lion and AFC Calne met for the second time this season in a rearranged fixture with the Lion looking to avenge a defeat on the second weekend of the season.

However, it was Calne who dictated the early exchanges against a Lion side that was very slow out of the blocks.

Surprisingly, it was the Lion who first came closest to scoring in the eighth minute when Luke Enderby jinked past Shaun Ward to deliver a perfect cross for his strike partner Andrew Webster.

Although Webster met the cross well, he directed his downward header wide of the post.

Calne had a chance of their own immediately afterwards but Ryan Kelleher's close range header was smartly turned aside by Mark Stonestreet.

Calne continued to boss the early exchanges but other than speculative long range strikes from Simon Vowden and Steve Allison, they never really looked like opening up a Lion defence superbly marshalled by Mikey O'Donnell.

However, the lively Aaron Clegg did find a yard of space on 20 minutes and only a last ditch tackle from Nathan West prevented the Calne midfielder from getting his shot away.

The crucial opening goal came four minutes later for the Lion.

Webster's teasing cross was inadvertently headed over goalkeeper Aaron Ward by Shaun Ward and Enderby gleefully tapped in the loose ball.

The goal seemed to settle the Lion who then started to take control of the game.

On the half hour, O'Donnell's freekick was brought down by Lee Campbell but the midfielder's close range shot dipped over the bar.

A minute late another O'Donnell delivery was met by Webster but the battering ram striker saw his header agonisingly loop over the woodwork.

The Lion's best move of the half came just before the break and should have produced a second goal.

Mark Stonestreet's early throw to his brother Andy set up a swift counter attack and although Webster beautifully brought down his early cross, his finish was rushed and zipped over the bar.

The crucial second goal came on the hour.

Darren Brown's precision ball in behind Shaun Ward found the raiding West and his chip over the advancing keeper went in via centre half Sam Parrish and the crossbar.

Calne immediately replaced Kelleher with Dean Fry as they sought a late recovery similar to the first game.

Within three minutes, Fry's corner fell to Parrish but the Calne defender blasted over from 15 yards.

Five minutes later Fry's freekick from the edge of the Lion area rebounded to Vowden but Stonestreet reacted quickly to beat away his header.

Going into the last quarter, Webster had a chance to seal the points but blasted over from 12 yards and with eight minutes to go Brown curled a freekick against the Calne crossbar.

The Lion deservedly grabbed the points by virtue of a 2-0 win and hope to use this to kick-start their season.

After a stuttering first half display, Biddestone Arms dispatched North Bradley at Cuttle Lane, gaining two valuable points in the process but the ease that Biddestone won 9-1 was alarming as Bradley had no answer to their hosts second half onslaught.

The Arms started brightly but and played some promising football but failed to turn their first half dominance into goals with John Ledgister being guilty of missing numerous chances.

Callum Hindle finally broke the deadlock after good work from Chris Mochan.

Complacency in the Arms side saw them punished as Bradley drew level prior to the interval through Neil Wilcox.

Strong words were exchanged in the Biddestone camp at half time and the villagers responded excellently in the second half with another eight goals.

Hat tricks from Paul Dixon and John Ledgister were the highlights of the half in which the Arms finally found the required cutting edge.

Father and son Richard and Joe Chaffey were once against at the heart of the Arms better moves.

Jack Goodship and Chris Mochan also found the net to in the Arms 9-1 win, their second victory of the season.

Rowde were without a few of their key players for their game away at the Foresters Arms, but their absence didn't seem to phase Rowde who coasted to a 7-1 victory over a Foresters side who were hoping to make it three wins on the spin.

Craig Whitbread headed Rowde ahead and Marcus Wallen made it 2-0 before Dan Neale gave Foresters hope of a fight back when he netted from the penalty spot.

Jamie Mullings stole the show for Rowde with a four timer the last one of which was a wonder goal which saw him volley home a sublime effort from 35 yards out to put the icing on an great individual display.

Nathan Emm scored Rowde's other goal from the penalty spot, this was after Richard Macklin had seen his penalty saved by Foresters keeper John Wiltshire.

Foresters substitute James Bagnell caused Rowde a few problems when he came on, Bagnell rattled the woodwork and also saw two shots sail just the wrong side of the upright.

Chippenham Sports & Social Club took a second minute lead against Coyote thanks to a Alex Lowe's 18 yard effort, but for the Sports who were hunting their first win of the season it was a false dawn as Coyote hit back to win 3-1.

Carl Davies making his debut for Coyote delivered an inch perfect cross for Dan Mercer to head the Trowbridge based side level before Mark Gerrish shot on 40 minutes took a massive deflection before finding the net to give Coyote the lead.

Nathan Flower who possibly played his best game for a long time for Chris Carr's outfit scored their third but in typical Flower fashion he spoiled a good day by getting himself needlessly booked.

Division Two

The match of the day in Division three between Cooper Avon and White Hart Combe was moved from the Conigre, Melksham, to Yatton Keynell and as predicted the game was a thriller between two of the divisions heavyweight sides, and after 90 gruelling minutes the points and the goals were shared as each team took a point each from a 3-3 drawn.

Simeon Mills, 30 yard thunderbolt cancelled out James Stone opener for the White Hart.

Sean Rushmore reclaimed the lead for White Hart Combe, but for a second time in the contest the trye men hit back to level matters this time their equaliser came from Tom Robinson.

Combe then lost the services of both Chris Cox and Lee Fernandez through injury and after Rushmore had rattled the Cooper cross bar and the tyre men's keeper Alex Shaftoe had made a couple of good saves to keep the score at 2-2, substitute Simon Gillatt put the visitors ahead for the first time in the game when he scored from the penalty spot.

With time running out Combe three players forward looking to get something from the game and they fashioned an equaliser deep in stoppage time when Craig Fullham drove home a blistering 18 yard rocket to tie the game at three-each to leave each team wondering what might have been.

With the Crown Cosmos pitch at All Cannings unplayable, they hastily rearranged for match to be played at Leighton Sports, Westbury, with The Horse & Groom hosting the game and after a dreadful start, which saw them trail two-nil after just 10 minutes before they eventually got their act together to run out 13-5 winners.

Tom Moore shocked the Cosmos by scoring two early goals but the hosts joy was short lived as Will Kibby's side turned things around with Stuart Skinner getting the leaders underway, Dave Hopkins made it 2-2 and another Skinner effort put Cosmos 3-2 ahead only for the Horse and Groom to square things up thanks to Dave Connelly.

From then on the Devizes based Cosmos side scored at will as Skinner scored two more to take his total for the game to four, Dean Potter bagged a brace, as did Nick Taylor, Dave Hopkins added to his first half strike and both Julian Alexander and Brad Newman scored their first goals of the season with Eliot Williams making it an unlucky 13 for The Horse whose other goals came from Darren Clements and Moore whose third of the game saw his seal his first ever treble, but it was all in vain as the Horse were beaten by a better side who on another occasion and against superior opposition might not be as lucky.

Sutton Benger beat FC Bradford 4-1 to claim their first win of the season, and it was Matt White who put a gloss finish on a great personal performance by scoring all four of his teams goals, the first of which came after 30 seconds.

White's opener for Benger was wiped out by Mark Robinson, who made it 1-0 before White's second of the game gave Benger a 2-1 half time advantage.

Two second half goals from White saw him complete a quartet of goals which doubled Benger's goals to date column.

The Crown Devizes also picked up their first win of the season as they triumphed 6-3 over Audley FC in a roller-coaster encounter, which saw Audley twice throw away a lead.

Chris Yeo fired Audley into an early lead which was wiped out by Mark Bridewell's first goal for The Crown, Ian Brown's second of the season put The Crown 2-1 up only for Chris Yeo to dragged the Audley level with his second of the game.

Yeo completed his hat trick to regain the lead for the Audley but one again The Crown hit back to level with Paul Revening squaring things up.

Rob Hannah put The Crown ahead for the first time in the game and from then on their was only one winning as the Audley's heads drooped and a second from Revening made it 5-3 prior to Darren Thorpe sealing the win with a well struck free kick.

The battle between last terms relegated clubs Chippenham Police and Hullavington went the way of Mark Roberts Hullavington side who gained an 8-2 victory which was a completed turnaround from last terms two meetings involving the sides which finished 0-0 and 2-2.

Matt Wilkins scored his first goal for Hullavington when he headed home a Jake Fisher corner to put them in front again the boys in blue who drew level thanks to James Parfitt.

There might have been a lot of luck about Nick Cole's second goal for the villagers as his shot from 18 yards was helped home by a double deflection.

Ben Wright made it 3-1 following a good pass from Ed Wilkins.

The Police hit back with Paul Mills scoring his first goal for the club, which reduced the margin to the odd goal.

Ed Wilkins turned provider against for Hullavington's fourth which was again scored by Ben Wright.

Ed Wilkins found the target when he headed home a cross from his brother Jon' Jonathan Wilkins then got in on the act with the villagers sixth, when he found the net after a good through ball from James Nation split the Police's defence.

Ed Wilkins lobbed home number seven and Ben Wright sealed a well taken treble and completed the scoring when he finished well after picking up another good pass from Jake Fisher.

Both Pig & Whistle United and Bremhill View Social Club were unable to find the target in match of very few chances, and the closest any team came to breaking the deadlock was when United's Danny Cole hit the bar.

Bremhill felt that they should have been awarded a penalty after Dale Smith was upended in the area, but their appeals for a spot kick were waved away by the referee.

Division Three

Biddestone White Horse surrendered their 100% record but their 2-2 draw at home to The Crown FC was good enough to keep them on top of the Division Three table.

When Biddestone when ahead through Andrew Davis second goal in as many games it was looking as it would be business as usual for the early pacesetters, but the Crown hit back to tie the score prior to half time when Mark Roach cross was tapped home by John Oram.

The Crown took the lead in the 65 minute with a brilliant individual strike from Dean Kerr who rounded three players before netting to put his Devizes based side ahead against all the odds.

Biddestone battled back and secured a point when the bloodied Scott Fleming converted a 74th minute penalty that the Crown's 47-year-old keeper John Hampshire got his fingertips to but he was unable to keep out.

AFC Melksham entertained Blue Circle (Sunday) and it was the hosts who coasted to a 6-2 victory, which keeps them in second spot behind the White Horse.

Melksham took 32 minutes to find a way through the Circle's back line and it was no surprise that it was Wayne Bailey who bagged the first goal of the game, the only surprise being that it was his only goal in Melksham's half dozen.

Craig Dore made it 2-0 and Mark James added a third to Melksham's total before Wayne Bristow pulled a goal back for the cement boys.

Craig Dore's second of the game in the 57th minute ended the game as a contest and Dan Rimmer (77 minutes) and Andy Harrison on the stroke of full time made up the Melksham six, Martin Hemmings was Circle's other scorer.

AFC Bell and Little George FC locked horns at Green Lane, Devizes in one of the matches of the day and it was Craig Townsend's Bell side who collected maximum points after claiming a nail biting 4-3 triumph.

Sloppy defending from the George, gifted Jonathan Scoffield Bell's opener.

Justin Phillamore tied the score for the George but it was the Bell's player/manager Townsend who fired his team back in front.

Townsend struck again to put the Bell 3-1 ahead before Jack Couthope halved the deficit but once again Townsend led by example as his third of the game, saw him complete his second hat trick in successive games but more importantly it restored the Bell's two goal cushion.

Little George managed to pull another goal back when Alex Orledge shot deflected in off the unfortunate Shane Moffat, but the George were unable to find a fourth goal to tie the scores and deny the Bell a deserved victory.

Chippenham West End Club recorded their second victory of the season courtesy of their 4-0 home success over the Churchill Arms.

The West End led one-nil at the interval thanks to a Tristan Roberts goal.

James Mullhall doubled the West End's lead with a delightful lob, Scott Nash added number three before West End's Les Donohue celebrated his 41st birthday by scoring from the penalty spot to complete the scoring after Josh Sheppard had been sent off after Paul Mannings original shot had been adjudged to have handled the ball on the line.

Paget completed his hat trick three minutes with a quality finish which saw him turn quickly and fire an unstoppable strike past Rangers returning keeper Dave Davis who in spite of being a little rusty having not played for a few years had a brilliant match between the sticks.

Sean Kingsbury wrapped up Bromham's victory with their fourth on 42 minutes.

Westbury Rangers B got of the mark for the first time this year by defeating their local rivals White Horse FC 6-3 to leave the Horse rock bottom in the table with no wins from their six outings to date.

Paul Phelps, Ali Khan and Clive Black replied with one each for the Horse.

Division Four

Corsham United are the new leaders of division four, United have seven points along with both Corsham Centre B and Steeple Ashton Rangers but occupy the number one spot by virtue of their better goals difference.

United visited Kings Arms (Market Lavington) and gained revenge over their hosts for the 5-1 and 3-0 defeats which they suffered at the hands of the Lavington based team last term.

United won 3-1 and it was Joe Pritchard who put them one-up, with his 13th goal of the season.

Julian Fielding restored parity for the Kingers' at half time the game could of gone anyway.

United regained the lead when the Kings Arms gave away their fifth penalty in as many games when Alex Mitchell snr was fouled and up stepped Dominic Reed to fire the visitors ahead.

United made certain of their victory when Joe Pritchard scored his second of the game and his 14th in just five matches to take one of last terms whipping boys to the summit.

A great all round team performance from Trowbridge Town Supporters Club might not have been enough to give them a victory over Corsham Centre B but manager Kevin Williams was impressed with their improvement from last Sunday which saw them lose 11-0 in the Wilts Sunday Cup and although Williams side lost 3-1, he was pleased with the second half display from his side who were trailing 3-0 at the break.

The Supporters Club should have been two goals to the good before the Centre who took 25 minutes to find a crack in a their stubborn defence scored through Kevin Hodgkinson, further first half goals from Warren Jones and Chaz Young put the Centre in command.

The Supporters Club had the better of the second half and with superior finishing should have added to Chris Penelhum's goal which turned out only to be a consolation rather than the goal which they hoped would inspire them to a great fight back.

The win sees the Centre move into second spot from last weeks fourth place.

Old Road Tavern missed out on the chance to top the table after they were beaten 2-1 by The Three Crown United and a referee for whom Tavern's manager Bernie Court would prefer not to see again in the future.

Court and players from the Three Crowns' were baffled when the referee sent the Tavern's Robbie Burton off after 10 minutes for allegedly throwing a punch, from that moment on in the opinion of the Tavern manager the game descended into farce.

Paul Maddox put the Three Crowns ahead on 20 minutes and although Martin Beech put though his own goal to tie the scores for the Tavern they were unable to hold out for a draw as Kelvin Page won the game for the Three Crown's on 75 minutes with a brilliant solo effort which saw him beat four players before planting it home to seal his teams 2-1 success.

Alan Davis also had a great game in goal for the Three Crowns as he made vital stops at crucial times in the game.

Wanderers made it three wins on the bounce as they maintained the only 100% record left in the division with a 3-1 victory away at North Star B for whom it was their first defeat of the campaign.

The Star took the lead on 20 minutes when Dan Allison put the hosts one-up, Wanderers hit back five minutes later with Domonic Shepherd scoring after good work from Dave Grandy.

Chippenham United RAOB claimed a third stalemate of the season when they drew 1-1 away at Somerford FC, they result wasn't really a surprise as both teams are still searching for they first victory of the season, Alex Braithwaite opened the scoring for Somerford but the villagers who have not won since February were unable to hold out for that elusive victory as United hit back to claim a share of the spoils with Steve Coleman scoring their equaliser 20 minutes from time.

A battling AFC Lyneham side who only had 10 players took the lead against Steeple Ashton Rangers but it proved only to be a mere consolation as Ashton hit back to win 15-2.

Dan Wright's free header put Lyneham in front despite the best efforts of Michael Ritson to clear it to safety.

It wasn't long before Ashton made their numerical advantage count as Lee Mounty jinked his way passed a couple of players before slotting home to bring Ashton level.

Ashton then took the lead when Nathan Holloway's header was well saved by Phil Harris but Mark Hunt was on hand to tap home the rebound.

Matt Grist scored from a penalty to make it 3-1, after Sam Stevens was bought down.

Lyneham never gave up and scored a second late from Tom Alexander netted a great finish.

FA Sunday Cup

Corsham Centre FC began their adventure in this seasons FA Sunday Cup with what was expected to be a tough opening match against Bristol Regional Sunday League premier division champions of the past two seasons Bloomfield Sports and the Centre came good when they had to.

Many people though the Centre could receive a mauling against the side who had beaten last terms beaten finalists Lebeq Tavern Courage in the Gloucestershire FA Sunday Cup.

The Centre showed their pedigree as they hammered their guests to Corsham Town's Southbank ground 5-0.

The Centre were missing keeper Nick Gingell, but his able deputy Ross Lye was called into action on 10 minutes and he was a full stretch when he saved with his feet to deny Bloomfield an early lead.

Midway through the half, the centre's Simon Gray broke through to set up James Lye who tapped home to put the Centre one-up.

The Centre's young back line of Tom Ingle, Matthew Ralph, Dan King and Jamie Moss rose to the occasion, and sniffed out any chance that arose in the first 45 minutes.

Bloomfield Sports took the game to the Centre in the second half, but the visitors were thwarted as the hosts put their bodies on the line to defend their team's precious lead.

On 60 minutes the Centre introduced Tim Jefferies to the fray and he immediately set up James Lye for number two.

Ten minutes later the same combination saw James Lye complete his hat trick.

On 80 minutes Tim Jefferies netted a deserved fourth and with time running out Bloomfield's Dean Wilson scored a bizarre own goal when with his team well beaten he chose his moment before drilling home an unstoppable effort past his own keeper to bring up the Centre's fifth.
