Swindon coach John Brown blamed a lack of pre-season matches for his side's 36-10 home defeat to Olney.

Brown said the team looked rusty in their first match back in Southern Counties North.

"It's nothing we can't put right with a little bit of practice," said Brown. "Our first-up tackling left a lot to be desired and we were too slow to react at the break-down."

Olney who landed the first blow when centre Raana Peakman went over following a well worked move.

Swindon responded with a try from Ian Reynolds and before half time the hosts were reduced to 14 men when Ian Reynolds was sent to the sin bin for an off the ball incident.

Olney profited with three tries, two from right wing Will Edwards and one from Rhys Peakman. Edwards converted all three.

Connal Knott powered his way through the Olney defence to score an unconverted try for Swindon, but Olney hit back as Edwards completed his hat-trick. Left-wing James Hannah sealed it for the visitors with a try.
