Pewsey cruised to their third win of the season with the players finally heeding manager Dave Turner's words of wisdom.

They now go into Saturday's game at Clanfield full of confidence after Turner told his side, ahead of the 2-0 win over Oxford City Nomads, he just wanted a win.

He said he has been frustrated by a string of good performances but few points to show for them.

"We played quite well, I said to them before, the most important thing was to win, rather than the performance," he said.

"We could have been four or five ahead but I was very pleased."

Craig Wall put the hosts a goal up in the first half on Saturday, running 30 yards before unleashing an unstoppable drive into the top corner.

"For someone who is not 100 per cent fit he is playing really well," said Turner of his striker, who is playing with a foot injury.

Wall had a hand in the second ten minutes into the second half, racing through into the box, only to be brought down.

The visitors were duly reduced to ten men and Scott Ward tucked the penalty away, although Turner felt the referee should have kept his cards in his pocket.

"It was a difficult one, I don't like to see players getting sent off," he said.

"But Craig was about to pull the trigger and the lad has taken him down. It might have been a bit harsh because the penalty should have been enough punishment."

But the win was soured after key striker Adam Field was ruled out for two weeks with a groin injury.

He had only just returned this season after breaking his leg in November.

Turner said: "A lot of players come back from a long time out and pick up stupid injuries and he must have just overstretched."

It means Field is out of the trip to Clanfield on Saturday along with brothers Shaun and Ritchie Carter.

But Brian Blake will plug the gap in defence left by the siblings after Turner convinced him to move from the reserves to the first team.
