CHIPPENHAM Town have rejected Devizes Town's offer to take striker Luke Hopper on loan.

The Nursteed Road outfit are on the look out for a new striker following the news frontman Joe O'Chuko is going to be out for eight months.

But Bluebirds boss Adie Mings confirmed the 18-year-old, from Devizes, would be going nowhere in the immediate future.

"I would like to help, but I can't," he said. "I wouldn't want to send my strikers to the Western League."

Thompson, who has also been in touch with Swindon Supermarine and Cirences-ter Town about possible loan signings, confirmed he had been in touch with Mings about the possibility of taking the Devizes-born youngster.

But, now Hopper has recovered from a knee injury, Mings is looking the former Swindon trainee to force his way into the squad ahead of Saturday's FA Cup First Round Qualifying clash at Beaconsfield SYCOB.

"He did great during pre-season and was unfortunate to get injured in the last game," he said. "If he is given the opportunity I would expect him to take it."

Hopper said: "It is up to the gaffer, but him and Tommy Callinan have been saying to me they are looking forward to having me back."
