CHIPPENHAM Moonraker Gymnastics Club is reflecting on a successful 2018 campaign.

Moonraker saw Millie Strange take part in the British Gymtasics Championships in Liverpool in March, competing on the vault in the disability masters category, where she finished sixth despite fracturing her foot on her second attempt.

Strange said: β€œIt was an unforgettable experience and I really enjoyed competing on the same podium as (Great Britain gymnasts) Nile Wilson and Amy Tinkler. I even got to meet (former Olympian) Beth Tweddle.

"It was a shame about my foot on the day but at least I still took sixth place in Great Britain. It will be an experience I will never forget.”

In April, 12 gymnasts took part in the club and regional grades at City of Bristol Gymnastics Club.

Emily Clark and Hermione Ferris took part in Club Grade Five, achieving highly commended, Ferris scoring 57.570 and Clark 56.550 over a five-piece round.

Leah Bishop, Charlotte Foley, Madison Cox, Katherine Allday, Florrie Strange and Millie Stokes all entered the competition in the hope of passing their regional grade 4, Foley, Strange and Cox all achieving a highly commended and Allday, Bishop and Stokes distinctions.

Freya Gleed, Jemma Vincent and Tamar Hibbert competed for their Regional grade two, the latter two being highly commended and Gleed earning another distinction.

Lauren Searle was the only gymnast to compete in the highest grade on the day, Regional grade one, earning a well-deserved distinction.

Late last month Eva Falcone-Healy entered the National Grades competition at National grade three, placing 11th.
