TWO days after their Autumn Trophy heroics, the Swindon Wildcats were brought down to earth with a bang as they were beaten by Basingstoke Bison on penalty shots.
Thursday night saw them claim victory over Peterborough Phantoms, but this time around they fell short away to Bison, as the returned to domestic competition.
Edgars Bebris got the ball rolling for the Wildcats, when he found the back of the net in the 14th minute, to hand the visitors a narrow lead at the end of the first period.
In the second, Bison drew level through Ryan Sutton on the half hour mark.
They entered the third at 1-1 and couldn't be separated in the final 20 minutes, or overtime, leaving penalty shots remaining.
After notching the winner on Thursday night, Aaron Nell's luck ran out as his effort was saved, meaning the bonus point stayed with the home side.
