SHREWS boss Micky Mellon does not think there is a lot between his side and visiting Swindon Town on Saturday.

After winning their last three, Town have climbed out of the relegation zone and above Salop in the table.

The upsurge in form of Ling’s outfit and the fact Shrewsbury are set to take on a number of other sides around them over the next few weeks leads Mellon to believe his side have got a chance whoever they are up against.

Whilst he is not going to be taking Swindon lightly, the New Meadow chief is certainly not running scared.

“(Swindon’s form) is good but we’re not doing too badly ourselves - we’re getting some good results too, so it’s a good time to meet each other,” said Mellon.

“It’s a very tight league - anyone can beat anyone at any time - and for us, there aren't really any games apart from maybe three where there’s been more than one moment to decide matches, and that seems to be the same throughout the league.

“There’s a whole batch of teams right up to mid-table who will be looking over their shoulders.

“It just seems teams are very well matched in this division - more so than last season - there isn’t a massive difference between the top and bottom.”

Having seen off the likes of Bury, Sheffield United, Gillingham and Peterborough in recent weeks, perhaps it is Town who should fear the Shrews as they seem to have developed a knack of beating in-form sides.

It was certainly something Mellon was keen to stress.

“We’re just hoping we can put on a show for the fans at this time of year," he said.

“It’s hard for me to get carried away because I’ve got to keep trying to improve, but it’s nice to be getting some positive results.

“I don’t think we’re in a position where we can say we’re favourites. We need to be 100 per cent on the money all the time, and that’s how we approach every game.”
