QUEENS Park Rangers boss Chris Ramsey appears to have given the green light for Ben Gladwin to extend his stay at Swindon Town past this weekend.

The 23-year-old rejoined Town on a 28-day emergency loan deal prior to the 2-1 defeat to Peterborough United and is set to play his last game of that spell tomorrow at Wigan Athletic.

However, with both the man himself and chairman Lee Power both expressing a desire to keep the midfielder past his current deal, it could become a reality.

With the likes of Matt Phillips, Tjaronn Chery and former Swindon teammate Massimo Luongo ahead of Gladwin in the pecking order at Loftus Road - and Junior Hoilett easing his way back into the team after an international break - the midfielder’s minutes may well be restricted if he was to return to west London.

During yesterday’s pre-match press duties former Town player Ramsey said that the club would be open to letting Gladwin stay in Wiltshire for longer to enable him to get more game time.

"We would consider it at the moment,” said Ramsey.

“We’ve got players who are playing, and we’re hoping to revitalise the likes of Junior (Hoilett) back from his international duty.

"If they’re all firing, Ben won’t come back and be in the squad."

Meanwhile, Swindon could be without Fabien Robert for their trip to the DW Stadium tomorrow.

The Frenchman returned to action last weekend from the bench as he assisted Town to a comeback draw at the County Ground.

However, the 26-year-old has been suffering with a temperature and is set to face a late fitness test before the trip north.

Fellow midfielder Louis Thompson could be back in contention for a place in the matchday squad after returning from parent club Norwich and training with the rest of the squad this week.

Jermaine Hylton and Jonathan Obika have also been training this week and will provide an added boost to the side looking to end a run of 10 games without a win.

An announcement on the new manager is expected at the beginning of next week, with Power having completed his interviews. The new person is expected to be in charge for Swindon’s trip to Rochdale in the FA Cup on Saturday, November 7.
