CHIPPENHAM Park boss Dave Ferris admitted his heart was in his mouth when he saw opponents Ashton & Backwell United reduced to ten men on Saturday.
Park were already 2-0 to the good thanks to Ryan Campbell's opener and an Aaron Ledgister penalty but Ferris says previous experience made him a worried man when Ashton had a man sent off just before half-time at Hardenhuish Park when Campbell was brought down.
"This season we've already had four occasions when we have played 10 men and we haven't done well," he said.
"But full credit to my lads as we just kept doing what we were doing and took the sting out of the game.
"I think we thoroughly deserved the three points."
The victory ended a five-match winless run for Park, and they had also picked up just one point in that time.
Ferris added: "I think we've only scored one goal in the last five games and it was a bit of a concern that we weren't converting the chances we were creating.
"We were understrength on Saturday but the team spirit was superb. I can't speak highly enough of the lads."
Park face two local derbies over the Easter weekend, travelling to Corsham Town on Friday and hosting Calne Town on Monday.
