CORSHAM Town chief Trevor Rawlings condemned the behaviour of the Horndean management as the two sides’ FA Cup clash last weekend turned sour.

After Keiron Gleed and Matt Jenkins’ goals were cancelled out by Nathan Kirby and Nathan Paxton, Corsham’s Sydenhams League visitors were awarded a late penalty, which sparked an ugly melee.

Ellis Martin eventually fired home Horndean’s winner but not before Town keeper Steve Allison has been sent off for his part in the fracas and Gary Blackwood had been shown a second yellow card for the foul that led to the spot-kick.

“I’m not condoning what Steve did because he lashed out but as soon as the melee started, their management all ran in and were shouting ‘let’s get in to them’,” said Rawlings.

“They wanted to fight everyone and I’ve never seen that, not even on a Sunday morning. I thought they were a disgrace.

“They were a physical side that were very strong from set-pieces and going 2-0 up probably flattered us. The cup is just a bonus though and we can’t be too disappointed about it.”

On Wednesday evening, Corsham bounced back with a comfortable 4-0 win at Roman Glass St George in the Toolstation League First Division.

Levi Cox starred as he hit a hat-trick whilst Jenkins was also on target.
