SWINDON TOWN: Cooper brands Brighton tie as "one for the purists"

Swindon Town will face Brighton & Hove Albion in the second round of the Capital One Cup

SWINDON Town manager Mark Cooper has branded his side’s Capital One Cup second-round tie against Brighton & Hove Albion as “one for the purists”.

Town’s reward for beating Luton Town 2-1 at Kenilworth Road on Tuesday night is the chance to host the Championship Seagulls in a League Cup match for the second time in three seasons.

On the last occasion the two teams met the Robins romped home to a 3-0 victory in a first-round clash and, while hoping for a similar result, Cooper is anticipating a free-flowing feast of football.

“Brighton are similar to us. It will be one for the purists, hopefully,” he said.

“We’re at home, it’s a good game for us. It’s probably against a team that have started to go down a similar route to ourselves but are maybe a couple of years in front in terms of the structure of how they want to play.

“They’ve brought in Gus Poyet and then (Oscar) Garcia and now another foreign manager (Sami Hyppia), so they’ve got a structure in place to play good football. They’re trying to bring young players through. It should be a really exciting game.

“If we’re still going well by the time the game comes around hopefully there’ll be a few people there.”

I think that will depend on how much the tickets will be Mark, £15 for adults, £10 for concessions and £5 for juniors and we may well get 8k +, but not if you charge £25.

If we are hoping to still be going well, it might help if we get the long awaited centre back in too, because with the injury list growing we are seriously short of cover in certain positions and probably need 2 or 3 extra, 2 long tem and 1 short term loan until Brad returns..

True enough, wouldn't expect it to be any more than £15, if it is then we'll struggle for numbers. You'd expect Brighton to bring a few but it's a long trip for a Tuesday night.

Looks like Saints have signed another centre half so hopefully that will pave the way for Stephens to join.

If you don't agree that ticket prices for this cup game should be at a £15 level that IMO will attract a bigger gate why don't you thumbs down mingers post your opinion of what you think the price should be instead.

As a concession I will be there regardless, whether I can pursuede others to attend is really dependant on the interest on seeing us take on a championship side and if the ticket price is value for money

OTR don't worry about the minus muppets, they're the ones with a single figure IQ who can't string a sentence together so can't post a comment. Plus the fact that if you refresh the thread you can vote as many times as you like!
