RISING Sun moved off the foot of the Division Four table for the first time since they entered the Chippenham Sunday League in 2005.

After a losing run of 16 matches, which stretches back to March last year, they chalked up a comprehensive 5-1 success away at Corsham United.

The Rising Sun had a the worse possible start as they arrived at Leafy Lane with only 10 players and fell behind to a James Leighton-Fry goal. But the Riser showed great spirit as they fought back and levelled just prior to the interval through Luke Hollaway, who normally sits on the bench for the Devizes based team.

But due them being a man short he had to play from the first whistle and his inclusion may have inadvertently led to them finding a new striker as his dinked effort that tied the game was as good as any of the goals which were to follow.

The Rising Sun were up to full strength for the second period and once Chris Burgess headed home a Gary Bridewell free kick to put the visitors ahead they never looked back. Steven Foord scrambled home number three and Foord ended the game as a contest when he knocked home his second of the game and the Riser's fourth.

Gary Burgess put the icing on the cake and sealed his teams empathic five star display with a quality finish for his second of the match and his teams fifth, which sent the champagne corks popping for the first time this year.

Bromham (Sunday)'s 1-0 victory over Churchill Arms saw them open up a three point gap over AFC Bell at the top of Division Four.

Bromham's pitch held up well and they took the points via a late Andy Bartlett goal. Bromham had to play the final 25 minutes of the game with replacement keeper Aaron Plummer between the sticks after injury forced the impressive Mark Napier into an early retirement, and had it not been for Napier the scoreline may well have been different as he pulled off a string of fine stops to deny Churchill on more than a few occasions. .

Waterlogged pitches led to North Star B having to postpone their game with Chippenham West End Club, The Crown FC missing out on a match with AFC Melksham as both Green Lane and Christie Miller were unplayable, and Wanderers were unable to play Trowbridge Town Supporters Club as both Leighton Sports Ground and the Town's home patch at Bratton were more suited to ducks that footballers.

The long awaited showdown between AFC Bell and Little George FC was called off by the League to allow the teams to catch up in their respective cup competitions.
