CRICKET: Wiltshire in command heading into final day
WILTSHIRE put themselves in the perfect position to claim a second Unicorns Championship Western Division win of the season after a dominant second day against Dorset at Corsham today.
Dorset with ten second-innings wickets in hand, were trailing by 425 runs at Station Road at stumps after the home side had piled on the runs earlier in the day.
The visiting side resumed thir first innings on 153-4 but added only another 107 runs before their innings was brought to a close.
Jake Lintott hit 36 and there was some late resistance from Mark Wolstenholme (31) and Ed Denham (29 not out) but the innings was ended in the 70th over.
Potterne's Jake Roberts took 4-48 and there were two wickets each for Ed Young and Joe King.
Wiltshire then set about the Dorset attack in their second innings, amassing 373-6 in 65 overs before declaring.
Openers Jayden Levitt and Henry Langford (69) put on 174 for the first wicket, birthday boy Levitt going on to complete his century with 104 of 78 balls, including 12 fours and six sixes.
Young added 67 and shared a partnership of 83 with Neil Clark (26) before Ashur Morrison added a late unbeaten 61 of 31 balls for the home side. Sam Thomson and Lintott shared two wickets each.
Devon openers Masoor Khan and Michael Porter successfully negotiated the final half-hour of play as Dorset reached 20 without loss - but facing a huge task on the final day.
