THE Wiltshire trio contesting the British Amateur Championship saw their bid to reach the matchplay stages stalled by the weather in Northern Ireland today.
Bowood's Jordan Smith and fellow Wiltshire county players Ben Stown (Rushmore) and Ben Amor (Marlborough) will have to complete their second 18 holes on Wednesday morning after fog enveloped the Portrush and Portstewart courses for much of the day.
Limited play was possible this morning before the fog came in forcing a delay of more than eight hours at Portrush and more than four at Portstewart.
Play was eventually suspended for the day in the afternoon and is due to resume at 7.30am tomorrow morning.
Stow at least managed nine holes at Portstewart but, having slipped to four under, needed to finish well to have any chance of making the top 64 players and progressing to the matchplay stages.
Smith had yet to start his second round at Portrush, after an opening one over par 72 at Portstewart on Monday.
For Amor, round two was likely to be a chance to gain experience, the Marlbrough teenager suffering a torrid time in the first round, shooting a 21 over par 91.
