MASSIMO Luongo was an unused substitute as Australia were beaten 3-1 by Chile in their World Cup opener in Cuiaba tonight.

The Swindon Town midfielder didn't get off the bench, as goals from Alexis Sanchez, Jorge Valdivia and Jean Beausejour did for the Socceroos, who responded through Tim Cahill.
