DEVIZES never recovered from a 17-0 deficit at half time as Buckingham gained ample revenge for their defeat in Wiltshire earlier in the season.
With captain Tom Collins in Rome watching England, Calum Conway made his first ever start in the first XV at scrum-half, while Luke Rapson continued at fly-half in the absence of Andy Thompson and Rory Brown.
But the Saddlebacks were up against it in the first half as the home side ran in three tries after making inroads into the Devizes defence.
Promising moments were few and far between for the away side, Conway’s sniping break seeing him hauled down five metres short.
Then Matty Holloran got over the try line but was bundled into touch by a last-ditch Buckingham tackle.
The beginning of the second half saw Devizes come back into it, with James Gaiger bundling over after sustained pressure on the Buckingham defence.
Rapson converted and then shortly afterwards added a penalty to make it 17-10.
However, this scoreline flattered Devizes as the hosts added a further three tries.
