CHIPPENHAM’S hopes of beating the National Three South West drop took a turn for the worst as they were thumped at second-placed Bracknell.
The Allington Field side slipped a place in the standings to second bottom and with three expected to go down are four points behind fourth-from-bottom Old Patesians, who have two games in hand.
Chippenham were rocked as full-back Stuart Mackay, wing Ian Burch and number eight Nico Maybury scored tries.
The bonus point was wrapped up for the home side before half time as hooker Stuart Silvester touched down, centre Ben Nowak adding two conversions.
Two more Bracknell tries arrived in the second half, sandwiching a Chippenham revival, led by scores for Lewis Surry and Tom Borham, Sam Saunders adding a conversion.
