Thanks for following Bluebirds Live this evening

The Bluebirds go back to the drawing board as they're without a fixture this weekend and next Tuesday's trip to Hungerford Town has also been postponed due to the Berkshire outfit being in Red Insure Cup action.

As always, we'll have reaction to tonight's loss in this Thursday's Gazette & Herald. Follow us on twitter @gazsport

But that brings proceedings to an end and it's a disappointing home defeat for Collier's men.

Arlesey got themselves an early lead and shut up shop for nigh on 84 minutes at Hardenhuish Park.

The visiting back four dealt with everything Chippenham had to throw at them and despite a few dangerous moments, there was a lack of cutting edge from the hosts as they slumped to defeat on a miserable evening.

The Bluebirds threaten twice late on!

First King blazes past his marker and his cutback is cleared off the line before the winger flashes another dangerous ball into the six-yard box moments later but Phillips just can't get the final touch!

King takes it and Tindle heads back into the area, allowing Griffin an effort on the turn but he can only drag his finish wide through a host of bodies

Stoppage-time corner for Chippenham...

We're in to the final minute as Chippenham still trail 1-0

Late pressure from the home side as keeper Bonham tips a header over the bar

But the danger is cleared. On the beark, Macklin fails to control King's cross-field ball, with a shooting opportunity falling the way of Phillips, but he's charged down by three Arlesey defenders

Arlesey win a free-kick just outside the area after N'Guessen is fouled

Around 12 minutes to go at Hardenhuish Park

Chippenham make their second change as Lloyd Macklin comes on for James Guthrie

The visitors' Barry Hayles is booked for a late challenge

A mistake from the Arlesey goalie almost gifts the home side an equaliser!

A high ball is nodded back by Andre Maltay and Bonham fails to catch it, allowing Griffin a snapshot on goal but his effort trickles agonisngly wide of the unguarded net!

Bluebirds winger Guthrie had a shot deflected clear just before the hosts made their first change of the evening.

It's still 1-0 to Arlesey - can Chippenham spark a comeback?

Corey King comes on for Harley Purnell with 23 minutes remaining

Chippenham's Tindle is back in the Fray however and looks like he'll soldier on

Tindle hobbles off as Arlesey take a corner kick, with Medina's cross headed over by Mevin M'Bala at the second attempt

Tindle has to stick out a leg to challenge Medina out near the right touchline and instantly looks in distress after making the tackle.

Looks as though he may have over-stretched there

But right up the other end, the ball bounces through fortuitously, allowing McNamara to put John under pressure.

The Chippenham keeper smacks his clearance straight into ther Arlesey man but the ball arrows out, wide of the open goal

The home side are on the front foot at the moment but Arlesey are holding firm

A sustained period of pressure almost leads to an eqauliser for Chippenham.

Griffin plays the ball out to McClennan, whose cross from the right wing is helped on by Phillips.

Guthrie is at the far post but has to stoop down low to head goalwards under pressure but can only hit the ball over the bar!

Guthrie challenges McNamara as Arlesey break on the counter-attack and the winger lets out a blood-curdling yelp as he's fouled.

There's no further action from referee Cox however and McNamara looks like he'll be able to continue after some attention

It's a quick-paced start to the second period and Harley Purnell has a dangerous-looking ball into the box beaten away by keeper Bonham

And we're back underway

The two sides are back out at Hardenhuish Park

Damp squib doesn't even begin to cover it.

The Bluebirds will be disappointed to have fallen behind so early and since that goal, it's been like a wet weather training session.

Chippenham have had some notable periods of possession but they need some impetus from somewhere and it wouldn't be a surprise to see boss Collier make a few changes, sooner rather than later.

Stick with Bluebirds Live to see if the second half holds any hope of a comeback

Chippenham's John keeps the score a 1-0 late in the half. A quickly-taken free-kick catches out the Chippenham back line, allowing the dangerous Joseph N'Guessen to charge at goal but the Bluebirds goalie rushes off his line to block well at the striker's feet

The Bluebirds have found their feet a little bit more now but they still trail 1-0 at Hardenhuish Park

Another chance falls Chippenham's way as Phillips heads into the path of Griffin, who is left with a run on goal.

Under pressure from two Arlesey defenders, the striker's low effort is held by goalie Jack Bonham

Arlesey's Sam Willet chops down Joe McClennan from behind and is shown a yellow card for his troubles

It's been a bit more like it from the hosts in the last ten minutes or so but neither side has really found their rhythm yet in difficult conditions

And full-back Monks goes close to notching the equaliser.

Guthrie takes a quick corner-kick and Monks goes for the top corner with a powerfully-struck effort, which flies narrowly over the crossbar

Chippenham piling on the pressure now - they've won three corners in quick succession

James Guthrie picks out Aaron Oakley from a corner kick but the defender's header is well-blocked by Harold Joseph

Real frustration for the home side early on - the Chippenham players are clearly annoyed at falling behind so early and need to find their composure as soon as possible.

From a corner, Joe McClennan has a shooting opportunity but can only blaze over from just inside the area

The visitors have the ball in the net again, with Hayles feeding winger McNamara but the linesman's flag comes up for offside

Lee Phillips superbly turns his marker and races towards the edge of the box but his control lets him down just as he shapes to shoot and the Arlesey defence clear the danger

Arlesey's McGovern clips a smart ball over the top of the Chippenham back line and both Greg Tindle and keeper John hesitate.

Hayles gets there and goes for a lob from a tight angle but is way off-target - a better finish and the home side could have been punished there

It's a miserable start for the home side and Pete Monks tries to provide an early remedy with a speculative long-range effort but his strike is off-target

It's the worst possible start for the Bluebirds. Barry Hayles lays the ball off to Liam McGovern, who slides a pass out to left winger Luis Medina.

The Arlesey man cuts inside and goes for goal with a side-footed effort, that curls around the reach of Ben John to put the visitors in front

Just minutes in, there's an early penalty shout for Arlesey, as Jonny McNamara goes down in the box, but referee Robin Cox is unmoved

And we're underway at Hardenhuish Park

Arlesey will get us started tonight, going from right-to-left

And out they come, nice and early at Chippenham

The two teams are in the tunnel

Three points tonight would really kick of the Bluebirds' New Year after their enforced winter break.

Stick with Bluebirds Live for all of the action as it happens.

Put simply - tonight will be a mud bath! Here's hoping that the conditions don't have too much of a bearing on the result.

ST ALBANS CITY: Jack Bonham, Harold Joseph, Sam Willett, Christian Tavernier, Andre Maltay (c), Kevin M'Bala, Jonny McNamara, Liam McGovern, Barry Hayles, Joseph N'Guessen, Luis Medina.

SUBSS: Stuart Farrell, Prince Musembo-Tembue, Nathan Hilaire, Juan Moukonsue, Rohdell Gorden.

CHIPPENHAM TOWN SIDE TO PLAY ARLESEY TOWN: Ben John, Harley Purnell, Pete Monks, Bryan Smith, Aaron Oakley, Greg Tindle, Joe McClennan, Rob Dean, Alan Griffin (c), Lee Phillips, James Guthrie.

SUBS: Corey King, Lloyd Macklin, Tyron Leigh, Callum Wright, Jon Beeden.

Tonight's teams are in.

Alan Griffin returns to the Chippenham line-up and will captain the side tonight, partnering Lee Phillips up front.

Bryan Smith replaces the injured Iain Harvey, whilst Lloyd Macklin drops to the bench.

Corey King scored the last-gasp equaliser against St Albans, and will start as a substitute once again.

Arlesey boss Brevett also has former Fulham team-mate Barry Hayles at his disposal tonight - the veteran striker starts tonight.

Tonight's opponents Arlesey, who are managed by former Fulham man Rufus Brevett, currently sit 11th in the table and saw a seven-match unbeaten run come to an end at Banbury United last weekend.

Striker Alan Griffin returns to the Chippenham line-up tonight whilst defender Tyron Leigh is also back after a bout of illness.

But midfielder Iain Harvey misses out after being forced off against St Albans with a recurrence of a hamstring injury.

Tom Knighton is also in the stands tonight. Looks as though he may have been left out of Mark Collier's squad but there's no confirmation of that yet - he was an unused substitute on Saturday.

It's a really wet evening in Chippenham tonight, with the rain battering the playing surface but tonight's game looks set to go ahead regardless.
