DEVIZES slipped to a disappointing defeat at home in Dorset & Wilts One North on Saturday.
The home side started the better and when centre Mark Warburton kicked forward, the ball bounced kindly for Scott Franklin to win the foot race and touch down.
Swindon however, responded with three tries to take a 17-5 lead before the home side hit back in the final ten minutes of the half with two tries of their own.
First Warburton got in the end of an offload from Paul Kuipers after a superb run which beat four defenders, Matt Holloran converting.
Then a maul rolled forward to allow second row Tim Alchin to go over for the try, Holloran again adding the extras.
Devizes extended their lead at the start of the second half as Warburton bagged his second, Holloran’s conversion making it 26-17.
However, as the home side seemed to relax, Swindon got back into it with a converted score.
And Devizes were condemned to defeat when an interception allowed Swindon a converted try to win the game.
