SHELLEY Rudman goes into the mid-season break in the Skeleton World Cup season in second place in the standings despite a disappointing run in the second race of the weekend at Lake Placid in America today.

Pewsey slider Rudman, who finished second in the first Lake Placid event on Friday, was 11th in today's second race as Great Britain compatriot Lizzy Yarnold coasted to her second World Cup win of the season.

Yarnold won the single-run race in a time of 56.27 seconds, ahead of Austrian Janine Flock in 56.61secs and American favourite Noelle Pikus-Pace who was third in 56.72secs.

Yarnold has now claimed two wins, one second place and one third from four World Cup races this season, making her an increasingly strong medal contender heading towards next year's Sochi Winter Olympics.

But the consistency of Rudman, the reigning world champion, means she lies second behind Yarnold in the overall standings.
