MARK Collier will send his troops out for a second south coast battle in four days on Saturday with a ‘no fear’ message ringing in their ears.

Collier suffered the first significant bump in the road of his Hardenhuish Park tenure as his side were soundly beaten by the Terras on Tuesday evening.

After a promising start – his first three Calor League Southern Premier Division fixtures had yielded seven points from nine – the Bluebirds had their wings clipped as two goals from Stewart Yetton, plus strikes by Mark Ford and Dave Allen cancelled out an earlier opener from visiting striker Alan Griffin.

A trip to in-form promotion chasers Poole this weekend is next, the Dolphins having lowered the colours of leaders Chesham on the road in midweek, their fourth game without defeat or conceding a goal.

Collier though will not allow doubt to creep into the minds of his squad as they seek to return to winning ways.

“Poole won against Chesham away and I watched them last weekend (a goalless draw at Banbury) and that will be another difficult game for us, but we shouldn’t have any fear, because there is nobody to fear,’’ said the manager.

“We just need to have a little bit more confidence about us and do the things we have been doing well in the last few games.

“The players have responded well in the time we’ve been here and we’ve given them new information each week to take on.

“It (Weymouth) didn’t go in our favour but the previous three games were very good and all we’ve done is lost one football match.’’

Collier said the team’s standards, raised considerably in recent weeks, had slipped against Weymouth.

But he added: “We’re going to have to take the odd defeat, the players had set themselves a standard and they fell below that.

“These are things that can happen when you are making the changes that we are.

“Our team is one that is in transition and we’re bringing people in and making changes and striving to get to where we want to be.

“It’s a reminder of what this division is like. You only have to be off your game a little bit and you will get beaten and we’re fully aware of that.’’

Lee Phillips failed a fitness test at Weymouth, but Collier hopes the frontman will be available for Saturday’s trip.

Defender Shane Blackmore should also shake off a knock, while Collier confirmed that Joe Tumelty had departed the Bluebirds to join Cinderford Town.

The visitors hadn't played since last week's 3-1 home win over Truro City, but they made the perfect start as Alan Griffin headed them into the lead shortly before the quarter of an hour mark.

Joe McClennan then went close for the visitors, but Weymouth were pressing for the equaliser and, after Ben Joyce had a shot which went over the bar, they levelled just after the half hour as former Town player Scott Walker's cross was headed home by Stewart Yetton.

Weymouth had the lions' share of play moving into the second half, although Griffin was denied the chance to put the Bluebirds back in front as a defender got in front of him with a goal beckoning.

The home side grabbed the lead just after the hour as Luke Burbidge broke and Mark Ford fired home.

Two quick goals wrapped up the points for the Terras as Dave Allen turned home from a Walker corner before Yetton fired home from the edge of the area.

Griffin hit the bar late on for the visitors, but the game was well beyond them.
